• Redacted Letter To New SEC Chair

A significant—but author redacted—letter from a member of Congress was shared today on X, marking the first Congressional correspondence to the SEC under the new administration.

Community member Andrew posted the letter on X, which is addressed to newly confirmed SEC Chair Paul Atkins.

While the author’s name and signature have been redacted the letter has a stronger tone that previous ones.

Along with Andrew, credit should also be given to @MCNYmusic for helping to facilitate the letter.

Although Andrew has chosen to redact the name of the congressional representative, we have some guesses as to who this letter is from. We won’t speculate at this time until the name is revealed because we are assuming the redaction was done for a reason.

We asked AI to do a comparitive analysis of the tone of the letter compared to previous MMTLP letters.

The May 5, 2025, letter represents an escalation in tone from inquiry and oversight to direct accusation and accountability demands.

The language is no longer neutral or merely investigative — it is framed politically, assigning blame and implying mismanagement or wrongdoing.

It suggests the congressional author is not satisfied with prior responses from the SEC or FINRA and may be laying the groundwork for public hearings, subpoenas, or legislative action.

    We can only hope so!

Once the author is posted publicly, we will add this to our Congressional Letter Archive.
